Sexual Assault - Resources

Child sexual assault can affect children differently depending on a number of factors, and not every child who experiences sexual assault will display trauma symptoms.

Sexual abuse is associated with discriminatory attitudes to women and sex that men learn from a young age, as well as unique power relationships between men and women and adults and children.

It is hard for anyone to disclose sexual assault. For children who do not have the language, it can be even more difficult. Offenders usually put a great deal of effort into ensuring the child remains silent.

There are things you can do to help you recover from sexual assault. You do not have to be on your own.

Counselling is an important process to recovery. It is a safe place for them to express their feelings and to help them feel better.
